Local Projects

Ongoing service projects:

The 2017 Holiday Gift Project Store for Oldsters/Foster Children is now closed.  All requests have been filled.  Thank you for your generous donations.

Oldsters Project: Through commitment to service, our mission is to be a liaison between the community and seniors in need, to provide a support network which distributes community contributions.

An annual Holiday tradition where the Boise club collects and publishes a gift "wish list" from residents of Boise's nursing homes.  Soroptimist coordinates community support in providing Holiday gifts to seniors who would otherwise not receive needed items. The gifts furnished by the community are sorted and distributed by Boise members to the nursing homes.

Foster Children Holiday Project and Special Needs Fund: An annual Holiday tradition where the Boise club collects and publishes a gift "wish list" from Health & Welfare for local foster children. Soroptimist coordinates community support in providing Holiday gifts for the foster children who would otherwise not receive needed items. The gifts furnished by the community are sorted and distributed by Health & Welfare.  Soroptimist provides financial assistance throughout the year to foster children for services and items which cannot be purchased using state funds. All requests come through the Idaho Health & Welfare Department.

Our club has contributed to a number of local organizations, including:

  • International Women's Day Celebration: SI Boise partnered with other community agencies who support women and girls in planning and implementing a celebration of women and girls.
  • Chrysalis House
  • Baby Steps
  • Women's & Children's Alliance
  • Special Olympics
  • YMCA

International Goodwill & Understanding: Our club maintains an ongoing relationship with other International Soroptimist clubs. This relationship includes mutual support of club projects. Our three friendship links are:

  • Bangalore, India
  • Bingley, England
  • Lund, Sweden
